I have seen people giving sweeping statements. I was used to do the same sometime ago and even now sometimes. Being a student of science one thing I observed among my fellows is, they are mostly ready to give sweeping statements. We try to tell facts as we are told that these facts could never change. I think this approach not only kill innovation but also lead to stagnation of knowledge. This leads me to the example of Zeno's paradox after the name of Greek Philosopher Zeno who considered the problem of summing an infinite series to achieve a finite result, but rejected it as an impossibility. It was accepted as it is, until Archimedes resolved the problem and Brook Taylor proposed the well known 'Taylor series' which science students use to solve a range of problems. The lesson, I learn from this story is, to create something new, or to innovate often times we have to break certain rules.
