Realise the Problem

I have read this sentence somewhere and remembered it. It said, "To solve a problem the first thing is that you realize what problem is?". We get frustrated when the things are not going in our way. We get angry over people, situations and circumstances and think that we have done our part. By blaming others, luck and uncontrollable circumstances, we reduce the level of frustration but in fact this does not solve our problem. To get a proper solution for a problem is to focus on problem and realize first what the problem is? I remember, when I was at high school, I met a thinker, he said if you have a particular problem ('for example, one procrastinates') and wanted to get rid off, just write that on  a piece of paper, put that in your pocket and keep thinking about that problem in silence of dark night for 10 mins, all alone for week or so. I did not understand the therapy or logic at that time but later discovered that it meant to focus and concentrate on a particular problem.

Lately, some students came to me and said that although they worked hard but they are not getting good grades. Since, I always get an idea, when I am teaching in the class, who is following through and who is not, I told them that they did not do as much hard work as they are claiming. The issue, I wanted to address was,  the reason for their not getting good grades was lack of hard work but they came up with other lame excuses. This serves more degradation in their studies as they are not ready to focus on the real problem. The important point is, one should not lie to himself, be honest to oneself and realise the problem first, accept your weaknesses before shifting the responsibility on others.
